Happy October!

I can’t even believe I am saying “October.” This year has flown by! But I’m sure that’s what everyone says every year around this time. Cheers to making it through the last three months of the year.

Did you know?

Pregnancy and postpartum are the most nutritionally demanding times in a woman’s life.

While you are growing a human, your baby requires nutrients like calcium, macro- and micronutrients, iron, folate, vitamin D, and more. Your body will send the baby everything he/she needs in order to grow.

After birth, your body will be the most depleted of all nutrients. This means you will have to focus even more on your postpartum nutrition. It’s not about hurrying up to fit back into your pre-pregnancy jeans.

During the postpartum period, your nutrition will directly impact your recovery and your baby’s development. Therefore, it’s important that you make a plan to ensure you are getting all of the nutrients your body requires while also staying hydrated and replacing electrolytes.

Postnatal depletion can last six months to a year after birth. However, some women report that they experienced the effects of postnatal depletion for ten years after birth.

Your nutrient stores take a huge hit after pregnancy and need to be replenished. When you focus on your postpartum nutrition now, you give yourself a chance for optimal health moving forward, plus feeling better overall.

Not sure where to start? You’re in luck! Here is a guide that will help you understand postpartum nutrition and what you can do to increase your intake of key nutrients and minerals.

Mom Hack:

For all the moms out there who can never seem to drink their coffee hot (or who have switched to iced coffee because of this… I could NEVER)… put your hot coffee in a thermos instead! It keeps your coffee hot for hours and, as a beautiful friend pointed out, the kids or babies can’t spill it!

Postpartum Fact:

The exact number of new moms who struggle with postpartum depression in the first year after birth is unknown due to a low number of studies conducted (because it’s mostly men who are making decisions on what needs to be studied). However, it is estimated that 10-30% of new moms will experience postpartum depression.

Postpartum Garden Top Pick:

Are you a mom? Great! Then this is for you:

95% of mothers are nutritionally depleted, despite taking vitamins.

That’s because some nutrients are too bulky to fit into 1-2 capsules per day, so prenatal brands and women’s multivitamin brands cut down on the dosages or leave nutrients, like Choline, out completely!

Enter NEEDED, the radically better option for fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum. NEEDED covers everything from prenatal, women’s multivitamins, immune support that is safe for your entire family, stress + sleep support, and even men’s sperm support.
