Postpartum Depression During the Holidays

Not feeling jolly this holiday season? You are not alone. After I had my first baby, it was all I could do just to survive the holidays that year. I was sleep-deprived, anxious, and overwhelmed. Later, I discovered that I was struggling with postpartum depression during the holidays.

If you are struggling with postpartum depression during this time of the year, or if you just don’t want to feel jolly right now, that’s okay! There are ways to cope. From experience and research with other professionals, I’ve come up with a list of 10 coping strategies for you this holiday season.

How to Cope with Postpartum Depression During the Holidays

  • Stay OFF of social media (here is why)

  • Limit the sweets (whomp, whomp)

  • Don’t set expectations

  • Prioritize rest

  • Ask for help

  • Click here to read the rest of the list (I do #10 often!)

Your mental health matters during this season and every day after that. Take the time to prioritize your peace during the holidays. Your family will thank you for the additional rest that you give yourself.
