New Traditions

During the holiday season last year, we had a four week old baby boy and we were new to parenthood. Needless to say, doing Christmas things weren’t exactly on the top of our list at that time (let’s be real, SLEEP was our main goal)! All the fantasizing about having a family around the holiday time was pretty much a blur for 2017. But this year, we actually get to see some of the magic with our little family of three!????

The first thing we were able to do this year was take our son to the annual Christmas tree lighting in the historic part of our little city. Since the newborn stage, my son has always been fascinated with lights and we often used any light in our home to show him when we needed him to settle down. He gets so focused on the lights! Naturally, we were even more anxious for him to see all the Christmas lights displayed throughout the city and of course to see the dark Christmas tree come alive with bright, rich, vibrant colors! We couldn’t wait to see our one-year-old’s face light up like a Christmas tree.

All things considered, he did very well in such a large crowd and when the Christmas lights did become displayed on the tree, the cheering of everyone around us wowed him more than anything.???? Just goes to show you how things in parenthood goes!

So from this experience, I would recommend to other families to take their little ones out to see all the beautiful festivities this season has to offer. For us, having a jacket, long pants with a onesie underneath, and his furry beanie on kept him nice and toasty in the cold weather. We also had him wrapped in a blanket while riding in the stroller. And there we were as a family of three strolling down the city’s street, warm drinks in hand, with our toddler gazing up at the decorations while starting new traditions.????

What traditions will you start this year? Any suggestions of traditions my little family should try? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!

Always,

Samantha
